In 1894–95 Pearson remodelled the interiors of 18 Carlton House Terrace for William Waldorf Astor. His son and architectural partner, Frank Loughborough Pearson, was also involved in the work; contemporary attribution generally gives the commission to J. L. Pearson, although later research into the Pearsons’ work for Astor indicates that Frank played a significant role. Among the alterations was the creation of a new library, subsequently furnished by John Dibblee Crace.
